The lineup for a initial Houston vs. Austin grill throwdown is set and it’s a doozy.

Barbecue fans won’t wish to skip a initial HOU-ATX BBQ Throwdown on Sunday during Saint Arnold Brewing Company as it will underline 5 Austin-area grill joints – all portion for a initial time in Houston – and 8 Houston grill businesses in a foe to see that city creates a best Texas barbecue.

Austin will be represented by Brotherton’s Black Iron Barbecue (Pflugerville), Hays Co. Bar-B-Que (San Marcos), LeRoy Lewis Barbecue, Micklethwait Craft Meats and Valentina’s Tex Mex BBQ. The Houston smokers (top finishers in a 2017 Houston BBQ Throwdown hold in September) are Beaver’s, a Brisket House, El Burro a Bull, Harlem Road Texas BBQ, a Pit Room and Tin Roof BBQ. Additional Houston participants will embody Killen’s Barbecue, Ellis Brothers BBQ and Gatlin’s BBQ.

The grill will be judged by a row that includes Will Buckman of CorkScrew BBQ, Texas Monthly food editor Patricia Sharpe, pitmaster Wayne Mueller of Louie Mueller Barbecue, grill photographer Robert J. Lerma and Houston Chronicle grill censor Alison Cook.
