Barbecue festival set for Saturday in Munfordville

A juicy foe is being hold in Munfordville, as a sixth annual Big Buffalo Crossing BBQ Cook-Off continues by Saturday.

Last year, 32 teams from mixed states took partial in a competition, that culminates with a grill festival featuring food booths and a qualification satisfactory commencement during 9 a.m. Saturday in downtown Munfordville. Thirty-six teams had sealed adult for a foe as of Thursday.

The eventuality is authorised by a Kansas City Barbeque Society, or KCBS, and began with registration Thursday followed by a day full of events on Friday.

Coni Shepperd, executive of a Munfordville Tourism Board, pronounced a eventuality brings in about 2,000 people to Munfordville annually including competitors from states including Wyoming, North Dakota and Rhode Island.

“They contest in 4 opposite categories — chicken, ribs, pig and brisket,” she said. “We move in approved judges. They’ve all been by a KCBS judging class.”

Judging will start during noon Saturday, and awards will be announced during 4 p.m.

“We advantage from it since we have a lot of people to come in from out of town, and of march they eat in a restaurants and during a lot of a businesses they will come in and buy stuff,” Munfordville Mayor John Freeman said. “Yes, it helps a income for sure.”
