Almost a ton of griddle will strike a pits Sunday as 16 teams contest for a Texas Kosher BBQ Championship. Pitmasters will contest in 4 categories — brisket, chicken, salmon, and beans – with winners motionless by a row of luminary judges, including Express-News food editor Edmund Tijerina.

Tickets for a all-you-can-eat tasting will be $20 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-12. Ticketholders will also get to opinion for their favorites in a People’s Choice Competition. Find tickets and bonus information during

The cookoff will run Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. during Congregation Agudas Achim, 16550 Huebner Road. Proceeds will assistance support synagogue activities as good as a San Antonio Police Department. Kosher beef for a eventuality is being supposing by H-E-B.
